ITALY- Super Early Production in Potato Crop with Basfoliar® Kelp and Vitanica® Si

Sicily area is very famous for the production of fresh potatoes very early in the season.
The final product is commonly named “Patata novella” which means “New potato”.
This is ready during early spring and it is very appreciated from the market.
To have this production the plant has to overcome the winter season.
Low temperatures and strong winds are the main abiotic stresses in this period.
To overcome these stresses it is very important to have a good, fast and robust germination.
In this field 2 applications of #Basfoliar_Kelp have been done after plant emergence, followed from “2” applications of Vitanica® Si.uring sowing (3 L/Ha) (see pictures and gif).

The combination of Ecklonia maxima and Silicon gave a fantastic result allowing the plant to overcame safely very low temperatures (close to 2°C) and strong wind (more than 80 km/h).
This is due to the Biostimulant effect of Ecklonia maxima and to the mechanical resistance given from Silicon.
