BIODIVERSITY in vineyards means better terroir – The case of Germany
Biodiversity – or biological diversity – is the term given to the variety of life on Earth. In a vineyard, biodiversity is the diversity of animals, plants, and microorganisms, at the genetic, species, and ecosystem levels. This diversity is necessary to sustain key functions, structures, and processes in this agroecosystem. Biodiversity is therefore a broad term that encompasses the diversity of the agricultural and natural ecosystems.
