The “Vine/Wine roads project” in ITALY meeting the NEGROAMARO

Negroamaro (meaning “black and bitter”) is a red wine grape variety native to southern Italy. It is grown almost exclusively in Apulia and particularly in Salento, the peninsula which can be visualized as the “heel” of Italy.

The Vine/Wine roads project of Keys2MyCrops couldn’t ignore such a significant wine grape variety, so it stopped by Cellino San Marco where in a six-acre vineyard the Negroamaro is cultivated.
The Team K2MC met Angelo Scarano student of viticulture/ oenology and wine producer as well.
Angelo informed us about DOC Salice (Denominazione di Origine Controllata (Denomination of Controlled Origin), the vine system (spurred cordon) the fertilization methods (NovaTec® Classic), and the crop techniques at this period of time (de-leafing & trimming).
Enjoy!
